How it all started...
In 1973, Clarice Johnson prayed for someone to minister to her and her children in Cedar Haven, Maryland. God answered by sending Elder Gyden Camp, Jr., along with Evangelist Evelyn Williams and Evangelist Estel Owen, to begin ministry in 1974.
Early services were held in the home of Deacon Moses Thompson with families like the Johnsons and Cottons. In 1983, while seeking a name for the ministry, Elder Camp’s 3-year-old niece, Latisha, said, “Why not call it The Glorious Church?” The name stuck—spoken through a child, confirmed by God.
As the church grew, the ministry moved to Washington, D.C., and in 1990, Bishop Hugh Gray opened his doors for services. From humble beginnings, The Glorious Church was born and continues to grow by faith.

Expanding the vision...
In November 2006, Elder Gyden Camp, Jr. was called home to be with the Lord, leaving Elder Evelyn Williams to continue the work. Known for her love-filled guidance and powerful message of hope, she poured her life and gifts into those she served. Her message was clear: “You are an overcomer.” In September 2009, she too was called home, but God faithfully raised up new leadership to carry the vision forward.
Where we are headed...
Pastor Allen E. Williams’ call to ministry began at age 8 through a dream of leading a great revival where many would come to know Christ. Though hesitant at first, God’s call was clear—and in November 2009, Pastor Allen was installed as Senior Pastor of The Glorious Church.
Since then, he has faithfully led the ministry with passion, prayer, and a heart for people. Gifted in teaching, counseling, writing, and music, he is known for breaking down Scripture in a way all can understand. His life’s mission is reconciliation—restoring the broken back to God, one soul at a time.
Pastor Allen serves alongside his wife, First Lady Cassandra Williams, and continues to labor in love and humility for the growth of God’s Kingdom at The New Glorious Church.
